An Outline for our Creative Homework

Week 1, January 17: Safety
Read: Introduction and Chapter One.
Project: A creativity doll.
Suggestions & supplies: Found medium. Thread. Fabric. 
Anything that works for you.


Week 2, January 24: Identity
Read: Chapter Two.
Project: 10 small self portraits. Should not look like you. Stay Loose.
Supplies needed: Paint. Graphite. Good paper. 
Size suggestion: 2.5” x 4”


Week 3, January 31: Power
Read: Chapter Three.
Project: 2 – 3 pages (8 1/2 x 11 or smaller) illustrate a piece of your anger (or your process through it).
Supplies needed: Medium of your choice.


Week 4, February 07: Integrity
Read: Chapter Four.
Project: Illustrate, collage, something important to you.
Supplies needed: Your choice. Magazine cutouts, cut paper. Got Glue?


Week 5, February 14: Possibility
Read: Chapter Five.
Project: Re-do “5” of your favorite Artist’s images. Make them your own. Show both, side by side.
Supplies needed: Your favorite stuff. Experiment.


Week 6, February 21: Abundance
Read: Chapter Six.
Project: Take yourself on an Artist’s date. Buy yourself “something” (suggested price: $5 or less.)
Create a piece of art from your purchase.
Supplies needed: Medium of your choice.


Week 7, February 28: Connection
Read: Chapter Seven.
Project: Write and illustrate a poem, or a personal quote. “Something you know for sure.”
Supplies needed: Paper, collage, found objects.


Week 8, March 07: Strength
Read: Chapter Eight.
Project: Illustrate, sculpt or create an Affirmation. Might use a found object. 
Supplies needed: You know by now.


Week 9, March 14: Compassion
Read: Chapter Nine.
Project: A fabric Book.
Supplies needed: Fabric. There will be a demonstration and discussion.


Week 10, March 21: Self-Protection
Read: Chapter Ten.
Project: Secret Explorer Uniform
Supplies needed: To be discussed and determined.


Week 11, March 28: Autonomy (& Believing in Yourself)
Read: Chapter Eleven and Twelve.
Project: Artist Trading Cards. One for each person in the class to trade. And one for yourself.
Supplies needed: Card stock. Glue and Collage paper.
